What is Crimmigration?

Crimmigration refers to the intersection of criminal and immigration law. When a non-citizen is charged with a crime it is very important that he or she receives a proper assessment of all possible immigration consequences in the event of a conviction.

In some cases, a conviction may render the non-citizen deportable. To avoid such a result, it is best to work with a criminal and immigration attorney to find alternative options. For example, perhaps a guilty plea to a lesser charge can achieve the desired result.
